WOMEN WERE CREATED AS EQUALS RIGHT?

In today's day in age, Women have fought and fought to been seen as equals. In North America and other parts of the world Women have become triumphant in many of their battles.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights ( 1948-2008)

it is a historic time to recognize the collective work of human rights defenders around the world, secure the international conventions and treaties that make up the human rights framework and reclaim the principles of the 1948 declaration which have taken a great setback by the rise of religious extremism, globalization and militarization. Today, feminist, peace activists and human rights defenders around the world calling on governments as well as global civil societies and demanding to put an end to violence against women. The dream of living in a world with peace, security and respect to human rights can no longer be “ deferred”.

With all this being said...Why do women in many parts of the world such as, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan still have to fear for their lives and safety? The sexual assault and rape that is taking place both in the Iraq and afghan wars. Not to mention the same acts of violence and terror that are committed against women in the US and Canada everyday are being ignored and disregarded. Why???

Women all over the world, No matter From which walk of life should be treated as equals.

These are the mothers of our children, Our wives, we also ask them to defend our front lines in battle. So why is it that they are being beaten sexually, emotionally, physically and mentally? They are often treated worse then that of a mildly neglected dog. Why do We as men feel that we have the right and the power to do so at our leisure?.

Dec 10th which is the International Human Rights day. It is also know as“ White Ribbon Day” in South Africa, UK and Canada. The White Ribbon is a symbol of hope for a world where women and girls can live with dignity and without fear of violence. This is a Symbol and a day that should be seen and recognized by ALL countries and humans around the world.

To recognize this to me anyways, shows acceptance that these acts against women exist and that we support them in their fight for awareness and equality. To me it is a shame that this day has to exist at all because women were created as equals right?

Of course women are treated as equals.
Even Nickelback has characterized and celebrated women's strengths in song..."your so much cooler when you never pull it out, cuz you look so much cuter with something in your mouth".
*rolls eyes*

You're right though, it's revolting that women are still being physically and sexually abused in Iraq, and Afghanistan (where human rights are severely lacking), and so many other areas all over the world (including North America, where human rights are being bought out).

What's even worse is that women from North America who are sent in the military overseas, are being raped and assaulted by their own fellow North American soldiers. Women who are risking their lives just the same.
...and we're over there patrolling what? helping who? creating a democratic system where?

We're tough and we're "just doing our jobs" by risking our lives for some greedy and faceless corporations, but we cant keep our dicks in our pants?
